Case:
State v C.O.
Charges:
Gross Misdemeanor Third Degree DWI – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Outcome:
NOT GUILTY on all charges

C.O. had a very tragic story. For many years, she has dealt with crippling medical issues. As a result, she is forced to take medication to limit her pain. Early one morning, she hit a patch of ice and crashed into a fence. The police arrived and jumped to the conclusion that C.O. must be under the influence.
We gathered all necessary records and showed the prosecutor that the medications found in her blood were prescribed medications. Even with that proof, the prosecutor’s office refused to dismiss the charges. My client was brave enough to stand up for herself and fight at trial. After a 4-day long trial, the jury acquitted her of all charges. The jury took less than 30 minutes to reach its decision and find C.O. NOT GUILTY of all charges against her.
