Case:
State v. F.O.
Charges:
Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in Hennepin County
Outcome:
All charges dismissed

F.O. initially contacted my office while in Ecuador. He is a permanent resident who went to visit his home country. While he was gone, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charged him with Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. His girlfriend’s daughter made allegations that F.O. inappropriately touched her on numerous occasions. While there is a long backstory, F.O. explained that the girl’s father was manipulating her into making false allegations against him.
We conducted our own investigation with the help of a private investigator. The investigator conducted numerous interviews with people who know F.O. and are familiar with the alleged victim. While the investigator conducted interviews, we helped F.O. return to the country without issues. With F.O. here, we sat down and discussed the situation and the investigation.
I arranged a meeting with the prosecutor handling the matter. We reviewed both the state’s evidence and the information from our private investigation. Just a few days after that meeting, we received a notice that all charges against F.O. were dismissed.
